Why should I write about myself?

Everyone has their own reasons for sharing their stories and is often governed by age and/or situation. Many people enjoy the writing itself, as it offers them a chance to relive the moments all over again and allows a sense of clarity when put into words. Others simply share an important moment to share the emotion of the occasion, and others share because they feel their story needs to be told. The one thing that Legacy Library offers is that the story will be remembered and will be shared with anyone and everyone eager to read it.

Who would want to read about my life?

So often people ask this question, thinking in their mind that their life may be uninteresting to others because everyone around them has such a similar life. What makes my life so special that its worth writing about? Firstly, your life is NOT like everyone else's, and even if it was, no-one else can write it from your perspective and in your words. We all live in the same world, yet we all see it through our own eyes and from our own perspective. So often it takes something we already know to be explained from someone else's perspective and in their own words for us to truly see what is in front of us.

Secondly, there are so many people in so many situations around the world, that what seems ordinary to you may be a dream come true for so many others. "Books were my pass to personal freedom. I learned to read at age three, and soon discovered there was a whole world to conquer that went beyond our farm in Mississippi." A Quote by Oprah Winfrey. There are always people who are less fortunate than ourselves and it may be your story that opens their eyes to a better world and inspires them to change their lives starting today. Your story could be your gift to them, your legacy to all.

Thirdly, people may just wish to connect with you. They may be friends, family, great great grandkids wanting to know where they came from, or maybe just someone wanting to share a laugh, or a tear with you. The important thing is to get your story out there.
